Description

The Swedish Institute (SI) Baltic Sea Region Cooperation now has the pleasure to announce four upcoming scholarship calls for the academic year 2016/2017 within theSI Visby Programme.

New for this year is the opportunity for Swedish-speaking students and teachers to study one or two semesters at a Swedish university, in Swedish language.

The aim of the Visby Programme is to build an integrated, knowledge-based and research-intense region, centred on the Baltic Sea, but also bridging to the Eastern Partnership countries and the Russian Federation.

Eligibility

The programme is open to candidates from Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

The programme provides PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with an opportunity to conduct research at Swedish universities within all fields of study.

Candidates belonging to any of the following categories may apply:

  • PhD student, applying for a part of his/her ongoing PhD studies to be carried out in Sweden (12 months maximum).
  • Postdoctoral researcher, with priority given to holders of a PhD degree from 2011 or later (12 months maximum).
  • Senior scientist-holders of a PhD degree obtained before 2011 (6 months maximum).

Scholarship

The scholarship is designed to cover living costs for the scholarship holder. The scholarship is free of tax and amounts to SEK 15,000 per month for PhD students and SEK 18,000 per month for postdoctoral researchers and senior scientists. The scholarship cannot be prolonged or extended. Scholarship holders are insured by the Swedish State Group Insurance against illness and accident during the scholarship period. SI Network for Future Global Leaders-All Swedish Institute scholarship holders are invited to become members of the SI Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL), a network that offers unique opportunities during and after the stay in Sweden. Together with other talented people from all around the world, the scholarship holder is able to take part in a variety of events, exchange ideas and create networks that benefit both to career and personal development.

Application

The application should be submitted online using the Swedish Institute application portal. Complete all the mandatory fields and attach all required documents. Only submit the application once and wait until you receive a confirmation email with your reference number. The reference number should be used whenever contacting SI with inquiries in regard to the scholarship application. Avancez Scholarships for Masters Students at Chalmers University in Sweden, 2016

Description:
Chalmers University of Technology will award a number of scholarships funded by the Chalmers Foundation and these are available to all citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are liable to pay tuition fees for Swedish university education. The exact number of scholarships is yet to be decided by the Chalmers Foundation.

Selection:
The selection is based on the applicants’ relative academic excellence, which primarily includes weighted average grade but also home university’s stature (including position on global ranking lists) and priority order of the application for Chalmers Master’s programmes.

Fields of Study:
The field(s) of study to which the scholarships will be awarded is determined annually by the University President. For the academic year 2016/17 the field of study is unrestricted, but it will be distributed according to targeted areas of education determined by the university management, based on the total number of applicants per each area of education from previous academic year.

Available To:

  • Citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are required to pay tuition fees for Swedish University education.
  • 1st year Master’s programme applicants

Amount:

  • A 75% reduction of the tuition fees (4 semesters / 2 year programme)
  • Students who excel during their first year of studies may receive an increased scholarship reduction, which covers 85% of the tuition fee during the second and final year of studies
  • No funds are transferred to the scholarship laureates
