The Faculty of Political and Social Sciences is seeking to fill a full-time vacancy in the Department of Political Science, ACIM for one doctoral student              

Following recently obtained research grant from the European Research Council (ERC) the research centre ACIM (www.uantwerpen.be/en/rg/acim) is looking for a talented and highly motivated doctoral student.

Job description

• You prepare a doctoral thesis in one of the following areas: the Europeanization of national interest groups from an organization theoretical perspective, the influence of interest groups in Belgian politics (federal and regional), the rescaling of interest representation, advisory and consultation regimes…
• We expect you to contribute to teaching (to a very limited extent) and to the overall research activities (such as lunch seminars or workshops) of ACIM.

Profile and requirements

• You hold a Master degree in one of the social sciences (Political Science, Sociology or Communication Sciences). Also candidates with degrees in related disciplines (such as Economics, Law or History) can apply if their profile fits with the requirements listed below. MA-students in the final year of their degree are recommended to apply.
• You can submit outstanding academic results (at least ‘onderscheiding’ or cum laude).
• Your research interests are complementary or overlap with the research program of ACIM. Check our website for more details (www.uantwerpen.be/en/rg/acim).
• You show a strong interest in theory and methods; you have a solid methodological background, in particular a sound knowledge of quantitative analysis is needed; you are familiar with or are prepared to familiarize yourself with statistical software such as R, Stata, or SAS.
• You are fluent in English.
• You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative. You are a flexible team-player.

We offer

• A doctoral scholarship for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a further two-year period after positive evaluation.
• A gross monthly grant ranging from € 2.167,88 – € 2.486,53.
• The start date is October 2014.

7 FACULTY OF HEALTH AND MEDICINE PHD OR RESEARCH MASTERS SCHOLARSHIPS-Australia

The Faculty of Health and Medicine have 7 full scholarships on offer for high quality PhD or Research Masters candidates to study on a full-time or part-time basis in 2015.

THE SCHOLARSHIPS

Three (3) scholarships will be supported by donor funds and must fall within a specified research area. They will be known as Donor scholarships:

1. Neville Eric Sansom Scholarship – for research in any area of direct relevance to understanding the causes, treatment or prevention of diabetes
2. Thora May Crighton Scholarship – for research in any area related to children’s science and health
3. Wansay/Asars Scholarship – for research in cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular health.

Four (4) more scholarships will be known as Faculty of Health and Medicine Postgraduate Research Scholarships. There is no restriction on the research area for these scholarships.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

• A living allowance of $25,849 per annum (2015 full-time rate)
• International scholarships will cover tuition fees
• Thesis allowance
• Relocation allowance (if required) – economy airfare
• Overseas Students Health Cover – International Students Only

The scholarships are available to domestic and international students on a full and part-time basis. Masters by Research scholarships are two years in duration (full-time equivalent) and PhD scholarships are three years in duration with the possibility of a 6-month extension period (full-time equivalent).

ELIGIBILITY

1. Scholarships are only available to new applicants, i.e. those who have not submitted a Research Degree application at the time of advertising.
2. Primary selection for all scholarships will be academic record and research potential of the applicant as based on:
   • Applicant’s academic record and CV
   • A one-page proposal, prepared by the applicant, in consultation with the intended supervisor outlining:
     • A brief background to the project and its significance
     • Innovative aspects of the approach including specific hypothesis to be tested (if any)
     • The research training environment
   • The applicants’ capacity to commence candidature by 30th October 2015.
3. Whilst the quality of the applicant and research environment are the primary criteria for selection, desirable criteria for the applicant may also include:
   • Honours Class 1 (or equivalent)
   • Grade Point Average of above 5.25 (or equivalent)
   • Minimum English language requirements met (where applicable)
   • Research Experience
   • Publications
   • Any scholarship co-funding (including top-up) provided by the supervisor.

Application instructions:

No separate application is required for the scholarship. To be considered for the Sydney Achievers International Scholarship for Semester 2, 2015, a candidate must receive an Unconditional Offer of Admission by 30 May 2015 (Round 1) or 19 June 2015 (Round 2).  Selected applicants receiving an Unconditional Offer of Admission will be invited to lodge an Expression of Interest.

Melbourne International Research Scholarships (MIRS) Australia

Deadline: 31 May/31 Oct (annual)

The Melbourne International Research Scholarships (MIRS) is awarded to international students wishing to undertake graduate research degree studies at the University of Melbourne.

Benefits provided by the MIRS include living allowance, relocation grant, thesis allowance, and paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.  Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is also included.

o be considered for the MIRS, you must:

• be an international applicant (ie. a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, and not an Australian permanent resident);
• have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a 4-year honours degree at an Australian university with a minimum result of first class honours;
• have applied for admission to undertake a master or doctorate by research degree or be currently enrolled in a research degree at the University of Melbourne
• have not already completed a research qualification at the same or higher level as the course for which a scholarship is sought.

All other students must complete an Application for Admission to Graduate Research Degree Candidature and Scholarship

MIRS are awarded on the basis of academic merit. Eligible applicants are considered according to their:

• academic achievement in their last completed degree; and
• research potential in their field of study, taking into consideration factors relevant to the proposed research including professional experience, refereed publications, specialist medical qualifications or composition of original music.

The University assesses applications for scholarships on an ongoing basis. As a general rule:

• applications submitted before 31 October (Round 1) will be finalised by 15 February of the following year, and
• applications submitted before 31 May (Round 2) will be finalised by 31 July.

University of Adelaide International Scholarships

Adelaide Scholarships International are available in the four scholarship rounds to outstanding international applicants from any country who have a First Class Honours result or equivalent, to support their study towards a Higher Degree by Research at the University of Adelaide.

Awards are available in all discipline areas.

Description of Ideal Candidate:

In order to be eligible applicants are required to have successfully completed at least the equivalent of an Australian First Class Honours degree (this is a four year degree with a major research project in the final year). All qualifying programs of study must be successfully completed.
International applicants must not hold a research qualification regarded by the University of Adelaide to be equivalent to an Australian Research Doctorate degree or, if undertaking a Research Masters degree, not hold a research qualification regarded by the University of Adelaide to be equivalent to or higher than an Australian Research Masters degree.
International applicants who have not provided evidence of their meeting the minimum English language proficiency requirements for direct entry by the scholarship closing date, or who have completed a Pre-Enrolment English Program to meet the entry requirements for the intended program of study, are not eligible.
Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia, and citizens of New Zealand are ineligible.

Those undertaking research via remote candidature are ineligible.

Generally applicants who succeed in winning an ASI scholarship have completed a Masters degree including a significant research component and have several publications and relevant work and research experience.
