Scholarship Description: University of Groningen offers Talent Grant for Developing Countries through the Eric Bleumink fund. The grant covers tuition fee, costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance.  Please note that a considerable number of students apply for this scholarship each year, whereas the University can issue only a limited number of grants.

Duration of award(s): The grant is awarded for a 1 year or 2 years Master’s degree programme. For Ph.D programmes , the grants will usually be awarded for maximum period of four years. Part of the research should be conducted in the home country and part in Groningen.

What does it cover? The grant covers tuition fee, costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance.  Please note that a considerable number of students apply for this scholarship each year, whereas the University can issue only a limited number of grants.

Notifications: The Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund will take a decision during their meeting in March. The study programme and the candidate will both be informed on the decision taken by the Board.

How to Apply: Master’s degree programmes:

  • First the candidate should apply for admission to a Master’s programme at the University of Groningen .
  • When the candidate applies for this admission, he or she must indicate on the online application that he/she wishes to be nominated for a Eric Bleumink Fund scholarship.
  • If the study programme board agrees with the candidacy for a EBF scholarship, they will send a standard application form including the motivation of the candidate to the Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund prior to 1 March. Per study programme only two candidates can be nominated.

Ph.D programmes: The application should consist of:

  • an elaborate research proposal or pre-proposal and
  • a letter of recommendation from the academic supervisor describing the benefits of the research for the department and/or the University of Groningen.
  • The application may also be submitted by the academic supervisor at the University of Groningen or at the home institute in the developing country. The academic supervisor in Groningen participates in one of the Research Schools or Research Institutes of the University of Groningen .
  • Motivation: it should be made clear by the applicant that requests for other funding have also been submitted.

Maastricht University High Potential scholarships are made available by the Maastricht University Scholarship Fund in order to encourage talented students from outside the EU/EEA to follow a Master’s programme at Maastricht University.

Scholarship value/inclusions: The scholarship covers living expenses (€10,500), insurance (€ 520), visa costs (€ 304), and tuition fee (€ 13.000 or € 17.500).

The High Potential scholarship is awarded for the duration of the Master’s programme with a maximum of 12 months. In case of a two-year Master’s programme the Scholarship Committee will award the scholarship for a maximum of 24 months.

Eligibility:

You must be admissible for a UM master’s programme or graduate programme for professionals and may be no older than 35 years at the start of the academic year.

You must have obtained excellent results in their previous studies. This must be shown in the application file by including, for example, grade lists or reference letters. In case of equivalent qualification, preference will be given to applications which show that the applicant is among the top 5%.

You must come from a country outside the EU/EEA and meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands.

•  Be (provisionally) admitted to a Master’s programme at the UvA for the first time.

•  Be able to comply with Dutch visa regulations as indicated by the IND (Dutch Immigration Service).

•  Be enrolled at the UvA as a full-time student for the academic year and the programme for which the scholarship is awarded.

•  The candidate should not receive another scholarship for the same period of study as the AES.

The AES application period runs from 1 November 2015 to 15 January 2016.

University College Maastricht Scholarship is awarded to applicants coming form outside EEA who are invited to visit University College Maastricht. It is not possible to apply directly for the scholarship but when you apply for admission to the programme of your choice, you can indicate whether you wish to be considered for this scholarship. The selection committees will review the application files for possible nominees.

Prospective Bachelor’s students in Economics and Business Economics who wish to be considered for the scholarship should apply for admission before 1 April. Prospective Master’s students who wish to be considered for the scholarship should apply for admission before 1 December.
