If the qualification for admission is a one year title, the prior qualification will be considered too. Qualifications issued by institutions of the Republic of San Marino do not satisfy this condition. Applicants’ citizenship is not considered;

2) they fulfil the access requirements foreseen for the chosen degree programme or will fulfil such requirements at the time of registration;

3) they are not students at the University of Bologna of First, Single or Second Cycle degree programmes.

4) they have not already benefited from the study grant Unibo Action 2.

5) they are not 30 years or older on the deadline of this call.

Description:

Merit360 is the world’s most significant program for global citizens committed to tackle the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. It is innovative and inspirational. End of August 2016, World Merit will gather 360 changemakers from all over the world in the USA for two weeks, to work on projects that will contribute in tackling the SDGs. These two weeks will focus on skill development, teamwork and sustainable development projects. The program is meant to be life- and world changing for the participants and the planet. It concludes in the United Nations Headquarters in New York and will include many global leaders as speakers and mentors.

As participant, you will work as part of a team of 360 people representing (almost) every country, and what you develop will be presented at the United Nations and be implemented for the good of global society. You will lead hundreds of thousands of people, from World Merit and beyond, in taking action and ensuring a better future for all.

You will start by getting to know the 360 participants in the World Merit community platform. After researching issues, this group will gather in the United States, with much of the program facilitated at Indian Head Camp, before the conclusion convenes in the United Nations in New York. The period from 27 August – 12 September 2016 will prove incredibly important for you as an individual and we will work to make sure it is also the start of something important for the planet.

MEDIA & CREATIVE TEAM

If you can’t quite decide what SDG you are most passionate about tackling, but you have awesome media or creative skills to bring to Merit360, then you can also apply to become part of the 360 Media and Creative Team. To make a real impact, we need to tell the world what we are doing! We are looking for 60 people to support the work of the teams that are working towards projects tackling the Sustainable Development Goals. Like the other 360 delegates, you will take part in many of the workshops, listen to the key notes and have the opportunity to work on the different projects.

Roles include: filmmakers, photographers, graphic designers, social media managers, researchers, tech experts, journalists, bloggers, artists and podcasters.

The generosity of our partners, and the fundraising efforts of the World Merit team and World Merit members have led to the happy fact that once selected, 87.5% of your program fee has already been covered! This means that £5250 of the full £6000 cost of the program has been found for you!

Upon selection you will be asked to pay or fundraise for the £750 balance of the total program costs. You will also be required to embark on a Pay It Forward campaign to raise money for scholarships for future Merit360 participants.

The process will go like this:

  1. You apply and are interviewed.
  2. You are selected.
  3. We will deduct £5250 from the £6000 program fees.
  4. You will pay / fundraise the balance of your costs at £750. To be paid within the agreed timeframe.
  5. You will be asked to set a Pay It Forward fundraising target to provide scholarship funds for future people of merit. We will help you achieve those targets and raise finances that you will have some input to where it goes. You will be involved in selecting people from a specific country perhaps or to support developing activists in a specific SDG.
  6. You will join us for Merit360 in the US in August 2016, and work on the worlds most prestigious program explicitly tackling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Though all program costs, including food, accommodation, mid program transportation etc., are covered, you are responsible for your own logistics of getting to and from a set location in New York City.

Republic of Austria Scholarships for International Students in Austria, 2016

Foundation of the Republic of Austria is pleased to offer scholarships to international students of high academic ability for 2016 entry. Scholarships are available for students to pursue research on their diploma or master thesis or their dissertation at scientific research institutions in Austria (e.g. universities, Austrian Academy of Sciences, National Library, National Archive).

Foundation of the Republic of Austria aims to assist international students who require financial assistance with scholarship, specifically for overseas students.

In 2005 the Austrian National Council established the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria by an Act of Parliament, which is to provide scholarships for all areas of education and further education. The scholarships are awarded by the foundation board from funds of the Conciliation Fund of the Republic of Austria for descendents of forced labourers or people coming from countries that have suffered exceptionally from the Nazi regime, particularly from the recruitment of forced labourers.

Applicants must not have studied/pursued research/pursued academic work in Austria in the last six months before taking up the grant.Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for students to pursue research on their diploma or master thesis or their dissertation at scientific research institutions in Austria (e.g. universities, Austrian Academy of Sciences, National Library, National Archive).

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.

List of Subjects:  Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, Human Medicine, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts.

Scholarship Award: The scholarships will include:
-monthly scholarship instalment: 940 EUR
-accident and health insurance: if necessary, the OeAD (Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research) will effect an accident and health insurance. The costs for the insurance have to be covered from the scholarship.
-The OeAD provides scholarship holders with accommodation (student dormitory or apartment). Monthly costs: 220 to 470 EUR (depending on the level of comfort requested by the scholarship holder). The scholarship holder has to pay an administrative fee of 18 EUR/month to the OeAD for the provision of accommodation. The costs for the accommodation have to be covered from the scholarship.
-Applicants from countries which are neither members of the EU nor members of EFTA, EEA or OECD can be granted a travel allowance of up to max. 500 EUR in addition to the scholarship.

Brief description:The Westminster Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships, the University’s most prestigious award, is aimed at fully funding a student from a developing country to study a full-time Masters degree at the University.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

Full tuition fee waivers, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.

Eligibility:

You must be an international student from a developing country and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree at University of Westminster.  The main criteria are: First Class Honours degree, financial need and development potential.

Application instructions:

You should only apply for a scholarship once you have applied for admission and successfully been offered a place (either conditional or unconditional) on the course you wish to study.  To apply for a scholarship you will need to complete the relevant scholarship application form and submit supporting documents by POST. The deadline for applications is 3 May 2016.
