If the qualification for admission is a one year title, the prior qualification will be considered too. Qualifications issued by institutions of the Republic of San Marino do not satisfy this condition. Applicants’ citizenship is not considered;

2) they fulfil the access requirements foreseen for the chosen degree programme or will fulfil such requirements at the time of registration;

3) they are not students at the University of Bologna of First, Single or Second Cycle degree programmes.

4) they have not already benefited from the study grant Unibo Action 2.

5) they are not 30 years or older on the deadline of this call.

You will also need to sit one of the following tests by the application deadline: 

– SAT (if you are interested in registering in a First or Single Cycle Degree Programme)
– GRE (if you are interested in registering in a Second Cycle Degree Programme)

1). General student scholarships for German and German-educated applicants (Bildungsinländer/innen (1)): Students in all subjects who are pursuing a First degree (Bachelor, Staatsexamen, Diplom) and who earned their university entrance qualification (2) in Germany:
-You may apply before beginning your first degree (Bachelor, Staatsexamen, Diplom) or at any time up to the end of your third “Fachsemester”. Masters students cannot apply, because we aim to support students over the longer term. However, Bachelors students who have been awarded support may receive further support for a Masters course.
-Special (but not exclusive) target groups are: first-generation students, women, members of ethnic minorities, applicants from universities of applied science (Fachhochschulen).
-scholarship programme also focuses (but not exclusively) on certain subjects: especially the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), particularly with a focus on environmental science (e.g. environmental protection, renewable energies, climate, etc.); economic and legal studies; journalism; and art studies.
-Germans and Bildungsinländer/innen (1) may receive funding for a complete Bachelors programme outside Germany but within the EU. In this case, the application must include a detailed justification of the proposed location and subject.
2). Student scholarship – journalism: “Medienvielfalt, anders: Junge Migrantinnen und Migranten in den Journalismus” (for German nationals and Bildungsinländer/innen):
-This programme is aimed at German or German-educated students with a migration background who wish to become journalists. Funding is not limited to students following journalism studies programmes.
-You may apply before beginning your study programme or at any time up to the end of your third “Fachsemester”. The conditions outlined in A.1. apply
Applicants for a doctoral scholarship: Please note that an application for the autumn application process is possible, if you are a German or  German-educated doctoral student.
1). Doctoral students in all subjects who earned their university entrance qualification in Germany (Germans nationals and Bildungsinländer/innen (1)):
-At the time of application, the applicant must have been accepted as a doctoral student by a state-recognised institution of higher education in Germany or another EU country.
-Preference will be given to dissertation projects related to the working areas of the Heinrich Böll Foundation
2). Doctoral scholarships: Focus programme “Transformation Research”
-Doctoral students from Germany who would like to apply for the focus programme “Transformation Research”
-Formal requirements given above.

2016-17 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)-USA

The United States Embassy in Georgia is pleased to announce the competition for the 2016-17 Global Undergraduate Exchange (Global UGRAD) Program.  Global UGRAD is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).  This international educational and cultural exchange program brings future leaders to the United States to experience the U.S. educational system, enhance their knowledge, and explore U.S. culture and values. It also affords students the opportunity to share their cultures and traditions with people in the United States.  Global UGRAD is administered by World Learning on behalf of ECA.

The scholarship will cover international travel, tuition, room and board, accident/sickness insurance, a small monthly stipend, and funding for books. Global UGRAD is a substantive exchange program designed to expose students to the U.S. educational system, society, and culture. Finalists represent diverse disciplines, from architecture to engineering, biochemistry to literature and education.  A small number of students will also receive additional English language training in the U.S. prior to the start of their academic program.

Competition for the program is highly competitive and merit based. Finalists will be selected on the basis of academic excellence, leadership potential, and their preparedness for study in the United States.

The Global UGRAD Program is open to anyone who is/has:

—a citizen of Georgia;

—enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Georgia, and must have completed their first year of undergraduate study prior to starting their Global UGRAD Program;

—at least one semester or an equivalent term to complete at their home institutions upon completion of the Global UGRAD Program. The Global UGRAD program cannot be the final academic term of a student’s undergraduate study.

—a solid command of written and spoken English (English Language training for some finalists is possible);

—able to begin studies in the United States in August 2016 or January 2017;

—eligible to receive and maintain the U.S. student exchange visa (J-1) required for the program;

—cleared by a physician to participate in the program;

—committed to returning to their home country after the completion of the program.

UCL Graduate Research Scholarships aim to attract high-quality students to undertake research at UCL.

Up to 20 UCL Graduate Research Scholarships (GRS) are available annually to prospective and current UCL research students from any country.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be:

  • in receipt of an offer of admission to (please see IMPORTANT NOTE below) or currently registered at UCL on a full- or part-time research degree programme, and;
  • holding or expecting to achieve at least an upper second-class Honours UK undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.

While current students may apply, those entering their third year of research will normally only be considered for funding in exceptional circumstances.

Selection Criteria

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and research potential. Financial circumstances are not taken into account.

Value: Benefits and Duration

The scholarships consist of fees equivalent to the standard postgraduate UK/EU rate (2015/16: £4,635) plus a maintenance stipend (2015/16: £16,057) for full-time study (benefits are calculated ‘pro rata’ for part-time students). The scholarship also includes additional research costs at a level up to £1,000 per year for the stated duration of the programme.

Awards are normally tenable for years 1, 2, and 3 of a full-time research degree programme (or years 1-5 of a part-time programme), subject to annual review and renewal.

Where students are undertaking integrated four-year doctoral programmes the award will be extended to the final year of study.

If granted, funding begins at the start of the next academic session.

Doctoral Scholarships & Postdoctoral Positions at Hamburg Institute for Social Research

The Hamburg Institute for Social Research (HIS)  is about to establish aninterdisciplinary research group on Statehood and Democracy and invites young scholars from disciplines such as sociology, political science, history, anthropology, economics, etc. to apply. Most welcome are historical, historical-sociological, or at least historically informed projects that focus preferably on the southern countries of Europe and

a)    analyze the relationship between the state, society, and the economy with a special emphasis on the emergence and transformation of fiscal structures and/or

b)    deal with the structure and the functioning of state administrations with respect to their legal, professional, infrastructural, and legitimizing aspects and/or

c)    highlight the political and intellectual context of the transformation of statehood and

d)    approach the questions addressed with a well-designed methodology and theoretical sensitivity in order to grasp the often tense relationship between the state and democracy.

We explicitly encourage applicants to submit project outlines which have been written specifically for this call for applications and thus may propose rather tentative hypotheses and arguments.

Doctoral scholarships amount to 1,400 € per month (two years with the possibility of an extension for one or two more years); the salary for postdoctoral positions (three years with the possibility of an extension for two more years) ranges from 3,700 to 4,800 € per month before taxes (depending on experience).

Applicants interested in pursuing a doctorate must have completed their degree (Master, M.A. or the equivalent) with above-average marks; applicants for the postdoctoral positions must have completed their PhD.

Applications for admission to the research group independent of applying for a stipend or a postdoctoral position will also be considered. Guest researchers, who must be self-supporting, are welcome to stay for a period of up to one year.

The HIS seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.

What Are the Global Study Awards?

We want to ultimately encourage young people to study abroad as part of their tertiary studies in order to experience and explore new countries, cultures and languages. That is why ISIC Association, StudyPortals and British Council IELTS are launching The Global Study Awards. The Global Study Awards recognises studying abroad as a positively life changing experience for many students, opening their minds to alternative ways of personal life and professional career, as well as promoting intercultural understanding and tolerance.

The Award prize will be applied toward the cost of tuition fees in the first instance, paid directly to the Higher Education Institution that the successful candidate will attend.

If tuition fees are below the maximum individual award fund of £10,000, the remaining funds may be allocated per diem for living costs for a maximum of 52 weeks starting from when the student first registered at the higher education institution.

Two study award announcements will be made, with a maximum of five Study Awards granted to students at each announcement point (maximum nine awards in total).

  • Up to four awards will be granted in the first round: open from 15 August 2015 to 30 November 2015 for students starting their studies abroad between 1 January 2016 and 30 April 2016.
  • Up to five awards with be granted in the second round: open from 15 January 2016 to 30 June 2016 for students starting their studies abroad between 1 August 2016 and 31 October 2016.

A selection panel comprised of representatives from the partners will review and assess the entries. Strong candidates will be shortlisted and invited for an in person interview prior to the final winning selection. The winners will be announced within 3 months after the application deadline. The time span of the Awards allows for consideration.

Who Are We Looking For?

The Global Study Awards is designed to support highly motivated, talented individuals who can actively demonstrate:

  • their potential to contribute to society through their studies;
  • a strong commitment to developing their career;
  • their sincere interest in increasing intercultural understanding and exchange.

Successful candidates will be willing to engage with the British Council IELTS, ISIC and StudyPortals communities, and publicly share their experiences with other students. The Global Study Awards will be available to prospective students in all countries worldwide. The Global Study Awards will enable the successful candidate(s) to study abroad, on any chosen undergraduate or postgraduate programme at a higher education institution. The Global Study Awards cannot be used by a successful candidate to study domestically.

To be eligible for The Global Study Awards applicants must:

•  Be 18 years or over on 1 January 2015

•  Have taken an IELTS test at a British Council centre, and receive an official Test Report Form (TRF) issued by the British Council in the last 2 years and before the application deadline

• Have a valid International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and/or International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) at the time of application

It is not possible to apply directly for the scholarship but when you apply for admission to the programme of your choice, you can indicate whether you wish to be considered for this scholarship. The selection committees will review the application files for possible nominees.

Prospective Bachelor’s students in Economics and Business Economics who wish to be considered for the scholarship should apply for admission before 1 April. Prospective Master’s students who wish to be considered for the scholarship should apply for admission before 1 December.
